AMPO Ouagadougou
Farewell ceremony at AMPO
Farewell ceremony – Many of the young people leave the orphanages and the women’s shelter each year to make room for new children and other young women.
This event is a cause for celebration every year. The young people leave the orphanages at the age of 18 but AMPO continues to support them. After staying 2 – 3 years at MIA/ALMA women’s shelter the young women are given a start-up package in the form of a bicycle, a sewing machine and a sum of money to be able to set themselves up for the future.
A visit to the market in preparation for the party ensures that material to sew the costumes is chosen with love.
The big day came on 20th July. There were many guests from the ministries and embassies to witness the celebration, the singing and the dancing.
Julio Bazi, a famous biker from Burkina Faso known for the thousands of miles he travels for his country throughout Africa was there. Donsharp de Batoro, an international slammer star came too. They came for the party, but they didn’t come empty-handed.
To all of those leaving AMPO we wish the very best for this new chapter in their lives.
