Visit to Schwentinepark Primary School – 18th and 19th March 2026

For many years now Schwentinepark Primary School has been in contact with a child from the AMPO Orphanage, Judicael, who is 18 years old in the meantime. Every year a different class sends him lovely letters, each a work of art, and it’s always very touching.

So, naturally, we decided to pay the school a visit to give a detailed talk about AMPO and the current situation.

A warm welcome

Originally we were planning on giving a presentation for the parents that evening. Instead we were given an overwhelming reception: at least 60 children stood singing and playing drums in the assembly hall with standing room only.

There was singing, drumming and dancing. There were cakes and refreshments and a lucky draw with ticket sales going through the roof. Everyone pitched in to give us an unforgettable evening.

Meeting the following morning

The next morning we spoke to the second and third classes. The presentation was of course adapted for the children. We were impressed by the children’s curiosity and the clever, perceptive questions they asked.

The school building displays letters, drawings and photos from AMPO and pictures of Katrin Rohde. It really felt a little like coming home.
Times like these give us courage and hope for the future.

A special message

One highlight was the video message from Judicael from the orphanage. He expressed his heartfelt thanks for the support over the years and spoke about his plans for the future.

The donations we received will help make his dreams come true.

Thanks to all those who made this possible

Our special thanks go to

  • the schoolchildren,
  • the parents,
  • the teachers,
  • and those who sponsored the lucky draw!

Your support is a valuable contribution to the work of AMPO.

The photos were selected or altered to avoid showing the faces of children.

Would you be interested in a talk at your school?

We’ll happily come along!
Just let us know.
